NFL Week 6 Recap: Under There, Under Where?

Jarrid Kosa, Host of Lunch Beers Podcast – Week 6 in the NFL, wild. That is all that comes to mind. Totals in the NFL were 2-13 Over/Under, so if you like defense week 6 was your brand of football. Or maybe you are upset this week? Kinda like the 49ers and Eagles got upset, both teams losing to back up quarter backs and now no undefeated teams remain. I told you the Eagles were soft, you know who is not soft, this guy Chuck I met at the bar rooting on the Jet’s in a sea of Eagles fans I was happy to see him get what he wanted. My Fiancé Ashley even knew Eagles were soft as she cashed in on Jets money line. BOOM, the Eagles finally lost their first regular season game to the Jet’s.

I’d like to take this paragraph to remind people that taking a road team in survivor pools is usually a bad idea. This week was a perfect example of that. It always hurts going out with a road team specially when they are -9.5 point favorites like the 49ers. The Browns defense is absolutely elite and if it weren’t for their injuries on the offensive side of the ball they would more frighting than a Desean Watson NDA.

Let’s be honest though if it weren’t for the chaos, week 6 was kind of a snoozer. Where are the points? Under’s are hitting at 60% this year, the best mark since 1991. Wow. Side note, the Saints have not had a game go over the total all season and the Bears just played in their first under of the season.

If you had the Ravens/Titans game over, you may be crying bad beat and that is fair as both teams struggled mightily in the redzone. The officials tried to help over and Titan’s backers as much as they could throwing some of the most ridiculous PI flags London has ever seen, but alas you missed the total by 1.5 and the Ravens covered the closing line of -5.5 after leading 18-3 at the half.

The two games that went over their total were the Colts and Jags and Carolina vs Miami, both during the 1pm slate. Primetime unders went a perfect 3-0 again, and the one game we though would be exciting during the 4pm window Lions at the Buccaneers was also a snooze fest. After the game Buc’s QB Baker Mayfield said, “I sucked” and he was not wrong. After leading the league in 3rd down conversion rate and coming off the bye, 6 points of offense is a travesty.

Bills appeared to be jetlagged from their London trip and Tyrod “needle lung” Taylor gave the Giants a chance as the game came down to the final play. Kinda gotta be sick if you are Giants or Bills fan in that scenario.

Injuries continue to plague the league as a boat load of guys may be missing time. Notably, Jimmy Garoppolo, Justin Fields, David Montgomery, Ryan Tannehill, Kyren Williams, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and Montez Sweat all left their respective games. Prayers for those guys and we wish them a speedy recovery.

I am very excited for Week 7, I will be at M&T Bank Stadium to see the Ravens host the Lions, potential Super Bowl matchup? Could be fun.

The total is at 42 right now and I would lean over, hoping there are a lot of points and I gotta see the Ravens open it up against this Lions pish posh defense. For our blog play of the week, we are going to look at that game. The Ravens are on a 7-0 ATS run in the 1st quarter outscoring their opponents 45-6. The bank will be rocking for the Ravens return home trip from London and unlike the Bills they will be ready to go. Ravens -0.5 1stQ. Another 1st quarter play I like is a divisional matchup between the Commanders and Giants. The Giants have yet to score more than 3 points in the first quarter this season and the Commanders have only lead the 1st Q in one game all season and that was week 1 against the Cardinals. Looking for them to come out and silence MetLife early in that match up.

Enjoy the week!
