NFL Week 4 Recap: Walk It Off. Turn It Off.

Jarrid Kosa, Host of Lunch Beers Podcast – Well, the NFL made it through a week without a season ending injury. Thank the Maker! It is rare however to make it through a week with zero injuries. Two notable injures occurred; Mike Evans (Hamstring) and Matthew Judon (Bicep) and we hope for a speedy recovery for those guys. Maybe, this year’s injury bug is why the NFL is trying to use Taylor Swift to help increase viewer ship. If everyone gets hurt and the product sucks, maybe she will just start singing? Chiefs blew a 17-point lead and gutted us with the hook pulling out our insides in a 23-20 win of the Jets.

I guess we used up all our luck in the first leg of the teaser with the officials and awful coaching by Ron Rivera willing us to a Philly walk off field goal on a game they probably should have lost. The Eagles and Commanders match up was easily the most entertaining of the day and felt like a 3-hour fight scene from a Rocky film. Washington got totally screwed by the officials not calling a BLATANT false start on a 4th and 1. Tush Push unstoppable so we know what occurred, but that would have forced the Eagles to punt may have changed the outcome of the game. Can’t forget the fact that Terry McLaurin was clearly in bounds and if Blankenship’s arm wasn’t beneath his foot, it would have been clear as day that he was indeed in bounds. Ron Rivera would not be out done however, he made it a point to show that referee’s what bad really looked like. With a chance to win the game in regulation Rivera elected to kick the extra point, when asked about it after the game he said his offense was gassed. HOW WOULD THEY NOT STILL BE GASSED IN OVERTIME!?!? Whatever.

During my beer fueled observation of the Eagles this far, I feel they are very over-rated and could easily be 1-3 if it weren’t for the help last Sunday and the bad turn overs from the Patriots and Vikings. Cowboys +200 to win the NFC is live but trusting them is indeed a gamble. I mean they lost to the Cardinals; I don’t care that they just destroyed the Patriot’s they lost to the Cardinals. Speaking of the Red Bird’s they finally failed to cover a spread moving to 3-1 ATS, but they look to get right against the super sad Cincinnati Beagles this week as we are currently staring at a 3-point line. The 4pm games last week were almost unwatchable if it weren’t for Chargers trying to lose to the Raiders and at least making it a game.

If you want to talk about making it a game, somehow the Broncos came back to beat the Bears down 28-7. Justin Fields threw for 300+ yards and 4 TD’s and they still lost. Hopefully, Matt Ryan called Fields and offered some counsel, he knows all about losing a game like that. The Steelers are sad and shout out to Houston for beating the absolute brakes off them. Hope everyone who picked the Steelers in survivor is sad. DeMeco Ryans doing one hell of a job in Houston and making an early push for coach of the year.

The AFC may not be living up to all the hype it was getting to start the year, as there may not be as many super teams as we had hoped, but I do think the Jag’s bounced back pretty well and we had our first winner on the blog! No they were playing the Falcons, we know, yuck, but the Bills now travel to London to face the Jag’s who have been there waiting. Buffalo doused the hot Dolphins, and Stefan Diggs said that he liked the taste of Dolphin after the game. Just kidding he didn’t say that. Probably thought it though. Those two teams will face off again in Miami in week 18 in what will hopefully be an epic battle for the AFC East.

One team may be able to obtain an absolute stranglehold on their division, the Baltimore Ravens. Won their second divisional road game of the year against the best defense in the NFL who only allowed one snap inside the redzone all season, until Lamar came to town that is. Ravens can put some huge space between themselves and the rest of the AFC north with a win over the Steelers this coming week. Yeah, I know that the Browns are without Chubb and Watson on offense but cry me a river. Ravens have been there two and the offense looked awesome against a very sturdy defense and when the Ravens get fully healthy, LOOK OUT!

I’ll close with this, the Ram’s walk off win against the Colt’s was awesome and Matt Stafford has played a lot better than people expected after the, “I don’t know how to connect with these rookie receivers” quote, the Rams are 2-2 and have the Eagles coming to Sofi who are a soft 4-0 and the Ram’s are catching 4.5 at home with hopes of Cooper Kupp returning, we will hop on the home dog for our first blog play of the week. Rams +4.5.

Blog Picks Record: 1-1.

Good luck out there and enjoy week 5 and the MLB Playoffs.
